History
IACAT formed in
1992. It developed from a core group of arts therapists who had trained
abroad and were in the process of establishing their professions in
Ireland.

The first A.G.M. was held in 1993, when a constitution was
ratified and a code of ethics laid out. In 1998 the Association changed
its name to the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists.

Recent Arts Therapies Graduates (graduated in last five or so years!) interested in meeting other Arts Therapists for a coffee!

Hi All,
I graduated in 2007 and I'm finding the starting out in the big world as an Art Therapist rather lonesome! I imagine many of the feelings of elation ; at surviving Arts Therapy training and graduating then confusion of where to start next are fairly wide spread. I'd love to meet up with anyone else who is attempting to create a path for themselves into the Arts Therapy profession; to share experiences, support each other through the highs and lows, sharing info re good CPD courses etc an… Continue

Conflicting roles as a play therapist and project worker

Hiya,
I work as a project worker at a child and family centre. I have completed my diploma in play therapy and am combining my role as a project worker with that of a play therapist. I'm wondering if there are others out there who are combining similiar roles and finding that there is some conflict in this? If you do experience this have you any advice on how to resolve this?
Many thanks, N

When Dissertation Troubles Surrounded Me:

This is an appreciative letter to thank the people who provided pin-point and professional dissertation help at the time when I was totally disappointed and had braced myself to meet the disaster regarding my PhD degree. It was the worst time of my life when I even thought of my dissertation disapproval.

Where can I study Art Therapy?

Crawford College of Art & Design has provided education in the arts for over 200 years. Located in the city of Cork,Ireland, the college has a proud tradition in the fields of fine art, ceramic design, art teacher training, art therapy and adulteducation in the creative arts.
Over the past fifteen years the college has established a strong Art Therapy Department, providing opportunities for learning about, and experiencing, the Art Therapy process. Pioneering art therapy training in Ireland, the Summer School was set up followed by the Art Therapy Foundation Certificate. 1998 saw the first intake of Postgraduate Art Therapy students, the first course of its kind in Ireland. The college now offers a taught MA in Art Therapy. The Arts & Empowerment Facilitation Training Certificate, with a more community art remit, was established in 1996, and we run a number of Art Therapy introductory weekends to meet the huge demand from people wanting to experience the Art Therapy process. The Art Therapy Department is committed to providing creative educational training through experiential workshops, backed up by seminars and lectures. It is actively involved in developing the quality and educational standing of its courses.
